Band Competitions last all day. Bands perform literally from morning until the evening, one after the other. Tickets are typically $7 to $12 depending on the show.
Parents wanting to watch the performance are encouraged to get there early in order to get a good seat. We would also like for all of the Viking Band parents to sit together. Look for the Spy Games shirts and other Viking Band gear to find each other. And cheer loudly when we perform!
Band shows are very different from football games. People are quiet and attentive to band performances. You are welcome to clap when you see something good (from any band). Unlike many other activities, it is okay to clap for other teams. The band world is unique and awesome like that.
Parent and Staff Helpers
Set-up Jobs for Parent Helpers
1 - Drum Major Podiums (3)
2 - Drum Major Step Ladder (1)
3 - Side Walls (6 sidewalls to set)
4 - Moving Percussion Help (about 10 parents needed)
We need to move onto the field quickly and efficiently. Helpers will have specific spots to help. Props must be set and then helpers move down front.
Parents should stand against fence/wall (wherever the bleachers start). Parent helpers are the "up close" cheerleaders and are encouraged to cheer the students on.
As soon as the performance is over, it is all hands on deck to clear the field. We will then take all equipment back to the semi (sometimes it's a long walk unfortunately).
